Even in this age of severe cutbacks in public funding for the Arts, MOBA remains committed to its free admission policy. But bad art is a labor of love. Help us keep it alive by donating money and/or really, REALLY bad art.
All submitted work must be original works of art (no reproductions). The pieces that we look for would never hang in a museum or commercial gallery, yet they have some quality that draws you to them -- or perhaps grabs you by the throat and won't let go.
As a rule we do not accept:
Works painted on velvet |
Paint-by-number |
Any of the well known kitschy motifs (dogs playing cards, big eyed kids and all that) unless they break new ground in a startling way |
An initial evaluation of the work can be done from a slide or photo but if you just want it out of your house then wrap it up and ship it to us.

All additions to the permanent collection are at the sole discretion of our expert curating staff. Curators are entrusted with the solemn responsibility of maintaining the museum's low standards. They typically reject 80% to 90% of all works submitted.
