MOBA has two brick-and-mortar locations in the Boston area. The main gallery is in the basement of the Somerville Theater (Somerville, MA), with a smaller exhibit at New England Wildlife Center (South Weymouth MA). Admission is free to both galleries.
Of over 700 pieces in the permanent collection, 20 to 25 are exhibited in Somerville and 12-15 in South Weymouth. Each piece is accompanied by a written interpretation, helping the public grasp many of the complexities inherent in the works.
MOBA is quite proud of our gallery in the basement of the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, Somerville. At MOBA Somerville, admission is free with the purchase of a movie or concert ticket or you can request a free museum pass from Info@MuseumOfBadArt.org. (Be sure to say how many people are coming.)
This theatre was opened in 1912 as a vaudeville theatre. It now shows a mix of mainstream and art films as well as occasional film festivals and live entertainment. There is usually no MOBA staff on premises, but our friends at the Somerville Theatre are available to try to answer your questions. Check the website for movie listings and showtimes.
New England Wildlife Center Gallery
New England Wildlife Center is an animal center that provides care to wild animals and to unusual pets. While you visit our art, you may be allowed to see some of the animals recuperating there. Our art is in the lobby!
CLOSED DEDHAM – MOBA’s first gallery was in the basement of Dedham Community Theater. We have been out of there for at over 10 years.
BROOKLINE – We were suddenly and unexpectedly evicted from the walls of the Brookline access television station.
